Ministry of Health Disability Support System Transformation

 

A nationwide transformation of the existing disability support system is under way. The Ministry of Health is moving forward with the next steps for transforming New Zealand's disability support system.

The transformation will be based on the Enabling Good Lives (EGL) vision and principles. The EGL approach is based on disabled children and adults and their families having greater choice and control over their supports and lives.

To make the transformation sustainable, and to understand the impact the transformation will have on people’s lives, costs, and system infrastructure, the Ministry has chosen the MidCentral DHB area to trial the new system.

Enable New Zealand are a key partner in the system design and implementing the system transformation and will present a professional education session on the background, implementation, changes, goals and impacts for allied health professionals working in disability support services in the future.

Information sessions from Enable New Zealand are being presented at Show your Ability 2018 at the following times:

Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North and Christchurch:

8:00am – 9:00am and 2:00pm – 3:00pm.

Dunedin 8:00am – 9:00am only.

 

Registration to attend is not required
